United Way of Lincoln County is prepared for the unexpected and is ready to step in with established local programs and organizations when it is needed most. For the last few years, it is clear that there are often unexpected crises that occur without warning. For example, Hurricane Helene ravaged western North Carolina, and left thousands of people stranded. Government shutdowns can lead to hundreds of people unable to afford food. United Way of Lincoln County is ready to organize and assist our community as needed.
While the immediate issue might be access to food or medical assistance, the byproduct of these effects is that individuals and families may struggle to afford their normal bills, like rent or utility payments. This means that once a person has dealt with the immediate problem, they are at risk of equally difficult consequences, like the threat of eviction or their power being cut off. Oftentimes, when a crisis occurs, individuals may need help from United Way's emergency fund.
Whether through helping organize and support individuals, such as the air relief during the hurricane, or providing literal assistance, such as meals during pandemics or emergency assistance, United Way of Lincoln County is dedicated to ensuring that Lincoln County makes it through community hardships without leaving anyone behind.
