United Way of Lincoln County is active throughout the community, and that can be seen during our signature outreach programs. These programs influence change, support, and hope for hundreds of people across Lincoln County, and we're proud to support them!
United Way of Lincoln County is committed to the resource centers in Lincoln County. We first started the Asbury Resource Center in 2017, which has become an entirely volunteer-ran program that makes an impact in hundreds of children's lives. Since then, we have also helped start a second resource center, the West Lincoln Resource Center located at the West Lincoln Middle School, which offers clothing to children in need on the west end of the county, along with a food pantry, as well as a Teacher Resource Center, which ensures Lincoln County teachers and students have the supplies they need to have a successful school year.
Each year, United Way of Lincoln County runs a Stuff the Bus campaign, during which local businesses collect school supplies. We host a Sort Day at the end of the campaign, where volunteers can come to the resource centers and sort all of the donations to be ready for Shop Day, which is a day when teachers can come to the Teacher Resource Center and get ready for the school year, and back-to-school events, which happen across the county.
Each year, United Way of Lincoln County hosts a Day of Caring during the National Volunteer Month, April. Day of Caring is an invitation for people and organizations to LIVE UNITED and take action to address a variety of different needs. It is a day that we ask our community to help us put our mission into action by volunteering to improve the building blocks for a good quality of life through projects both big & small! Past Days of Caring have featured school beautification projects, waiting areas at the shelters in Lincoln County, and more.
During the holiday season, typically through November and December, United Way of Lincoln County helps organize several volunteer opportunities that are focused on helping the community. For examples, holiday helpers might help package holiday meal kits, put wreaths out on veterans' graves, wrap presents at gift-wrap pop-up events, and more.
United Way of Lincoln County makes neighborhood outreach a priority, helping fund afterschool tutors and mentors and supporting programs such as summer camps, dance programs, and more.
