Due to rising community needs, United Way of Lincoln County has stepped into the area of hardship funding. This funding is for families and individuals to help them overcome a one-time crisis, for example:

  • A family may reach out for help with their utility bill because they had to spend the money allocated for it on fixing their vehicle
  • An individual who recently stayed in a hospital might reach out because their medical bills were higher than normal and could not afford their rent that month
  • A senior may reach out because they had to pay unexpected funeral costs and could no longer pay for their electricity bill

In each of these cases, there was not blame—just life's unexpected challenges. To learn more, click the button below.

United Way of Lincoln County is prepared for the unexpected and is ready to step in with established local programs and organizations when it is needed most. For the last few years, it is clear that there are often unexpected crises that occur without warning. For example, Hurricane Helene ravaged western North Carolina and left thousands of people stranded. Government shutdowns can lead to hundreds of people unable to afford food. United Way of Lincoln County is ready to organize and assist our community as needed. Learn more at the button below.
