Due to rising community needs, United Way of Lincoln County has stepped into the area of hardship funding. This funding is for families and individuals to help them overcome a one-time crisis, for example:
- A family may reach out for help with their utility bill because they had to spend the money allocated for it on fixing their vehicle.
- An individual who recently stayed in a hospital might reach out because their medical bills were higher than normal and could not afford their rent that month.
- A senior may reach out because they had to pay unexpected funeral costs and could no longer pay for their electricity bill
Those applying for this funding must fit the following qualifications:
- Live in Lincoln County
- Have an emergent hardship or unexpected financial cost (illness/medical procedure, car breakdown, etc.)
- Have a plan for addressing the crisis/future bills depending on the situation
- Be willing to work with a financial mentor as applicable
- Have not received funding within 12 months
- Share a copy of the bill/lease dependent on the situation
Those who qualify can receive a pledge up to a certain amount depending on the situation, and UWLC then reaches out to the company/landlord to make the payment.
Individuals who need emergency funding can reach out to United Way of Lincoln County by email (info@unitedwayoflincolncounty.org) or phone (704-240-8621).
